Indoor / Bad Weather Activities in Courchevel

If you are unlucky enough to find yourself in Morzine when the rain is pouring and the wind is howling, or if you simply want to have a day off all of those extreme sports you've put your body through, there's no shortage of things for you to do in Morzine. Whether you fancy some pampering at a spa, want to catch a movie at the cinema, or take the kids ice-skating; here are a few suggestions to keep you entertained during your stay.

Arcades & 10 Pin Bowling

The Forum is the place to head in Courchevel 1850 if you want to practice your strikes. With 8 lanes as well as pool/billiard tables, arcade games and internet access there is plenty to keep you occupied when the weather isn't looking too great. Look out for their 'disco bowling' and other theme nights. You'll find draught beers and an array of cocktails at the bar as well as bar snacks and light meals.

The bowling allley can be hired out for private functions and if you enquire with the management they can organise all sorts of entertainments, decorations and party food for your event. Click here for contact details.

Beauty, Spa & Massage

If you are not here for the outdoors �extreme� lifestyle and would prefer a more relaxing break in Courchevel, then you'll be pleased to hear that there is an altogether more pleasurable experience to be had at one of the many Spa and Beauty centres in town. There are a number of excellent beauticians in the town, offering massages, facials, manicures and body treatments - all designed to meet your needs, whether it be a hen weekend, or a day of girlie pampering for you and your friends.

Cinema

There are four cinemas throughout the various levels of Courchevel, each showing the latest French and international films. If you want to see an English-language film find out beforehand whether it is being shown in French, English (version originale) or with subtitles (sous-titres). Watching a film with subtitles can be a great way to learn a few new French phrases - their usefulness will depend entirely on the kind of film you are watching though!

Cookery Courses

Michel Rochedy of the 4* Hotel le Chabichou welcomes would-be chefs of all abilities into his kitchen on Thursdays from 9.00am to 11.00am to share his hints and tips on classical and more adventurous cooking. Be sure to reserve your place to avoid disappointment.

Le Forum

Le Forum, opposite La Croisette in Courchevel 1850, houses an indoor climbing wall, an Olympic ice rink, a gym, a bowling alley, games machines, sports shops and boutiques. Details of all these activities can be found in our Action, Fun & Sports listings.

The gym or 'Centre de Remise en Forme' is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 4pm to 9pm and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am to 2pm and from 4pm to 9pm.

The indoor climbing wall is hard to miss as it runs right through the centre of the shopping centre! There are instructors available to give lessons, should you need them.

The Ice Rink is open every day from 3-7pm and on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9-11pm. On days when bad weather keeps people off the mountains they sometimes open early at 2pm. Regular galas and special events are held at the rink so it is worth enquiring in resort or having a look at our What�s On calendar before you go.

The Bowling Alley is complete with 8 international competition lanes and is open every day from 2pm-2am (may open as early as 11am on bad weather days). Look out for their �disco bowling� nights and other entertainments!

Museums & Galleries

Regular exhibitions of local contemporary and traditional artwork are held at the Hall de la Croisette in 1850. As well as their changing programme of local exhibitions there is also a permanent collection of paintings, sculptures and art books.

Courchevel 1650 has the exhibition hall at the Maison de Moriond; enquire locally for the latest programme of events.

For more contemporary art the Galerie Daniel Bessiche has a fascinating collection and the Arts Forum in Courchevel 1850 has a gallery and workshop in which you can browse works by local artists. The Gallery Caf� mixes art exhibitions, live music, drink and food in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Swimming Pool

There is a public swimming baths at the Grandes Combes in Courchevel 1550 that offers a variety of classes for children and adults, as well as aquagym and diving flippers. It has 2 pools, one of which is partially out-doors. Free access with the leisure card 'Forfait Loisirs'.

If you fancy something a little more refined a number of hotels have pools that are open to the public; you may have to pay for spa facilities for the day so enquire directly to find out whether you can just pay for pool access or not. Hotels to try are Diamant Forme, Centre Bien Etre des Trois Vall�es, Centre Bien Etre des Neiges and Les Thermes du Carlina.
