Chalet Belle Vue is a typical mountain house, tucked away in the ancient village of Courchevel Saint Bon at 1100m.
Unlike many of the larger purpose-built chalets, Belle Vue is just the right size for a group of 4-6 people who want the place to themselves. It is around 200 years old and full of character.
The interior is warm and cosy with a large open fireplace and there are beautiful uninterrupted views of the mountains from the outside terrace.
Chalet Belle Vue is offered on a self-catered basis, giving you the flexibility to eat in or sample some of Courchevel's fine restaurants. The kitchen is fully equipped with all mod cons and the large dining table comfortably seats 6 people.
The house is decorated in a modern French style with soft colours, wooden beams and tiled floors. Spiral staircases take you from one floor to the next. It has been renovated to be contemporary and comfortable without losing any of its original charm and includes modern features such as Wi-Fi, flat screen TV with UK channels, DVD and iPod docking station.
Tourism in the Courchevel Valley started as early as the beginning of the Twentieth Century with summer holidays rather than winter. The first skiers arrived in Courchevel in the 1930's and the development plan for a ski resort with the help of Lauren Chappis in the 1940's. The official name of 'Courchevel' was decided upon in 1946 along with the creation of the first hotel 'Trois Vallees Hotel'. The first ski lifts were installed towards the end of 1946 by Jean Pomagalski joining Courchevel Village to Courcehvel. By the late 1950's the resort consisted of; one cable car, three gondalas, six ski lifts and 210 buildings for accommodation. Development continued and over fifty years later there is currently 58 ski lifts and 150km of piste along with four separate resorts; Courchevel, Courchevel Moriond, Courchevel Village and Le Praz.
As the name suggests from the recent re-name of resorts, Courchevel Village is a small village resort without the glitz and glamour of Courchevel. It is a functional resort and has a great location at 1550m to access the Courchevel ski area.
When the sun is shining Courchevel Village is the place to be with the south facing terrace at La Table Les Flocons and the sunny terrace at L'Oeil de Boeuf both at Tovets. Right in the centre of Courchevel Village you can get a great pizza at Le Cortona.
With the north facing aspect of many slopes in Courchevel they are some of the best in the Three Valleys. There are great views across to Mont Blanc and over the valley to Champagny and Bellecote in the La Plagne ski area.
At 1550m along with skiing Courchevel and Les Trois Vallees you can also take part in activities such as a hot air balloon ride at sunrise! You can take part in an evening torchlight descent or a snowmobile outing after 5pm once the slopes are closed. There is also a great cross country skiing track through the forest.
Local Golf Clubs
On the Les Verdons platueau in Courchevel there is a nine hole golf course. There is also a driving range with 27 bays including seven covered bays along with pitching and putting greens.
Local Ski-Lift or Piste
Courchevel Village has two lifts that lead up to Courchevel 1850. Grangette is the Bubble Lift that drops you directly into the Croisette building which houses Courchevel 1850s main lifts leading out into this vast ski domain. This lift is open after the pistes close to provide access to the Luge run situated at the top of the village as well as Courchevel 1850. The other lift is the Tovets Chair Lift which stops just in-front of the Croisette. From here you can either take off your skis/snowboard to access the main lift station of Courhevel 1850 or you can follow the piste down towards Le Praz and the Plantrey Chair Lift. As well as providing connections to Meribel and La Tania, the Plantrey lift is a great way to avoid the queues in Couchevel's main hub.
If you are missing England head to 'The Bar', an English Bar in Courchevel Village. Le Caterail Vodka Bar is located on the main street with live music and Les Flocons is right at the bottom of the piste to enjoy a vin chaud.
