British Snowboarders & Skiers Caught in 2 Separate Avalanches Yesterday in Courchevel

Two separate avalanche incidents where Brits were involved

featured in News & reviews Author Ellie Mahoney, Courchevel Editor Updated

Two separate avalanches occurred yesterday, with two snowboarders being rescued at around 4pm yesterday afternoon, one buried under the snow, and an earlier incident which saw two skiers taken off their feet.

The two skiers were thankfully unharmed after their scare, but one of the snowboarders was buried and needed digging out by the PGHM and rescue crews. He was apparently hypothermic but otherwise OK.

Warnings have been made by the prefecture about skiing off piste, and with the avalanche risk still high, it's really not advisable to venture off piste without transceivers, shovels & probes or the assistance of a qualified guide or instructor.

The avalanche bulletin is updated on a daily basis & at the time of writing is at 3/5.
