New St Martin Express Ski Lift to be Ready for This Winter

Another high speed lift for the 3 Valleys ski area

Well it seems the development of the new St Martin lift is coming along nicely! According to electrician, Romain Hudry, working on site all is set to be competed ready for this coming winter season.

The newly renamed lift from St Martin 2 to the ‘St Martin Express’ looks set to deliver a rapid ascent up the mountain. The old lift was certainly ready for replacement with the last couple of seasons seeing a lot of delays for skiers on the lift resulting in a loss of ski time.

The new building for the St Martin express is absolutely huge and even the workers on the site are not sure why it is quite this big. It was thought that perhaps the new structure would include an indoor picnic area but nope, this construction is all lift! The old toilet block remains in front of the St Martin Express and the location is more or less the exact position as before involving a ‘shuss’ across from St Martin 1. Again it was believed that the lift would be re-positioned so that skiers could get across more smoothly rather than a direct passage across the piste although it seems not.

Along with the speed of the new lift another welcome improvement is a bubble cover for those chilly days although this might lead to more closures if there are high winds. I understand that the bar of the lift is also child-friendly late release at the top of the station, it does result in a bit of panic if you’re not prepared for the controlled opening!

With just under two months before the opening of the resort in St Martin de Belleville it looks like all is on schedule, hopefully the St Martin Express will be taking skiers up speedily to the Three Valleys ski area this winter.
