Taking the kids skiing in Courchevel this winter? A ski holiday with little ones can be a big adventure. After booking the holiday and packing up all the gear you still need to figure out ski lessons for the kids and how to keep them happy the entire week!

We’ve got the low down on children’s ski lessons in Courchevel and everything else you need to know to ensure the kids enjoy their holiday and therefore so can you.

Ski Schools

Courchevel has a great choice of Ski Schools, most of whom offer children's lessons and there are a handful of Private Ski Instructors who can also take small groups of children or individuals.

Meeting Points

Ski school meeting points tend to be at the bottom of the ski lifts in each of the different sectors of Courchevel and some Ski Schools or Private Instructors can meet you at a location of your choice, you just need to ask if they offer this service.

Bringing the babies along?

Don’t be intimidated if you’re on holiday with very wee ones, free buses around Courchevel are child-friendly and allow easy access from one resort village to the next. Babies and buggies can go up the bubbles and cable cars but keep in mind the pressure change with the higher altitude - you may want to seek advice from your family doctor first.

And don’t worry about lugging all your baby gear along with you. Hire every product could possibly need from Holiday Baby Hire. From buggies to baby monitors to cots and even down snow suits, they’ve got it covered and will deliver to your accommodation in Courchevel.

Lift Pass Low Down

Kids under 5 ski for free, but they still need to get a lift pass for access onto all the lifts. Kids under 1m25 must be accompanied by an adult on the chair lifts, no more than 2 kids per adult (one on either side).

If you are a beginner, check if you will need a lift pass for your first lessons as you may well be on free lifts on your first session on snow. Find prices for this year's ski passes and a guide on which ones to buy.

Where is best for beginners and intermediates?

If you need really easy slopes, then 1850 is your place with a whole host of easy options running back into resort. 1650 is a intermediate paradise with numerous, well groomed cruisy blues to choose from as well a reds of varying difficulty off the sides of the main area.

Where to eat with the kids?

In Courchevel 1650, head to Le Petit Savoyard for great family favourites such as pizza, pasta, fondues and raclette. It is popular and busy though, particularly on 'chalet night off’, so make sure you book in advance. La Table de Marie also has similar food and is an excellent option. La Boulotte offers a more eclectic menu with falafel and tandoori chicken wraps, home made soups etc and is another excellent option for a lunch stop. All these restaurants can be found on the street immediately behind the bottom of the slopes and are all within 2 minutes walk.

In La Tania, Les Marmattons and La Ferme offer an early sitting for little ones and have a traditional Savoyard menu with tartiflette and fondue as well as pizzas and pastas. Find more restaurants in Courchevel.

What else can the kids get up to?

Tons! There is a proper floodlit sledging run from Courchevel 1850 all the way down to 1550. Wear your helmet for this one though! There is an ice rink in La Forum in 1850. Also every Wednesday evening they keep Verdons slope open for night skiing. The brand new Aquamotion is a massive, brilliant swimming facilities for kids and adults alike. It has other features as well such as indoor surfing, spa treatments and a climbing wall.

When you arrive in your resort ask your reps or head down to the tourist office to find out what’s on during your week in Courchevel. With different activities/entertainment each week it’s good to get your finger on the pulse so as not to miss out. From Elf shows and Santa’s parade during Christmas, to an on-snow music concert for New Year to torchlight descents throughout the season, there’s often something special going on in resort.

New Generation Courchevel Ski School Info

Children’s group ski lessons with New Generation run Monday-Friday (with an optional Sunday add-on) from 9am until 1:30pm. This includes a break in the middle for a drink and a snack and allows the group to explore the slopes of Courchevel without any time constraints (and allows you time to explore too!) There is also an option to extend the lesson to two full days on Tuesday and Thursday.

Lessons run from beginners to Freeride level ages 4-13 (please specify level and age when booking to ensure the best fit group). For children age 4-5 we have shorter group lessons that run for two hours, allowing maximum fun without tiring out the little legs! Or opt for private kids lessons that give one on one experience, or the lesson can be shared amongst a few children of the same level, where they get 100% of the instructors attention. The instructor can tailor the lesson exactly to the need to your child, or children. We like to make use of the Family Park near the Verdons piste with the older kids. It offers a skier X run, airbags, jumps and rail park as well as much more.

New Generation Courchevel Meeting Points

New Gen have ski schools in Courchevel 1650, 1850 and La Tania, to suit your needs and meet you where is best for you. The meeting point for their Courchevel 1850 Ski School is situated next to the top of the Tovets chair lift. It is below the Croisette building on the opposite side of the road, just on the edge of the piste near Kudeta. If you’re on skis, just ski under the bridge near the bottom of the piste and we meet just after it on the right. The meeting point for their Courchevel 1650 Ski School is underneath the lift line of the Ariondaz bubble. When you’re at the foot of the pistes looking at the large piste map you’ll see a small set of stairs to your right. Go up these stairs and up the small slope. They meet just above, between the two drag lifts. The meeting point for the La Tania Ski School is situated next to the La Tania telecabine. We meet by the bottom of the stairs next to the piste map.

See you on the slopes!
