There is no train station in Courchevel but this doesn't mean that you can't come here by train.

More than ever encouraged as the sustainable and eco-friendly travel option, getting to resort by train is still worth the effort with short transfer times from its closest major transport hub, whether that be Grenoble, Lyon or Geneva. 

You'll get more leg room and it's a great way to enjoy the passing scenery.

Nearest train station to Courchevel

Located on the valley floor, Moûtiers is the nearest train station to Courchevel, around 17km from the resort centre. Eurostar ski trains from London and high-speed TGV trains from Paris stop here.

To get from Courchevel to the ski area, there are local buses running a few times per day taking around 45 minutes to arrive at the centre.

London to Courchevel by train

There's no direct link between London and Courchevel by train. 

The Eurostar ski train goes from London St Pancras to various stations in the Alps including Chambery, Moûtiers and Bourg-Saint-Maurice.

These are rough journey times for a number of destinations.

Train prices to Courchevel

How much it costs depends a lot on when you travel. Peak weeks like Christmas, New Year, February half-term and Easter are obviously more expensive.

Our top tip is to try to book as early as possible.

Eurostar ski train tickets usually go out for sale in mid-July and that's when they're at their cheapest.

TGV train tickets from Paris to other French cities are normally available to buy 120 to 90 days before your travel time.

There are a few different options when trying to make your way from Moûtiers train station to resort.

  • local bus - takes around 45 minutes
  • private transfer - direct
  • local taxi - transfer time of around 40 minutes

Luggage allowances on trains to Courchevel

If you're coming to Courchevel, you'll probably be carrying additional luggage like ski boots, helmets or backpacks.

Train lines tend to have more generous allowances than airlines, but there are some limits.
